“The 30th” is the second song from Billie Eilish’s second EP “Guitar Songs”, which was released on the 21st July 2022 through Darkroom & Interscope Records.
The slow guitar led ballad sees Eilish reminisce a car accident that her loved ones were involved in and ultimately taken to hospital for. The day before the song’s release, Eilish spoke to Zane Lowe from Apple Music about the song’s meaning for her:
“We wrote that on December [sic] 30th, and that was actually the first song that we had written since Happier Than Ever. That’s why it’s called “The 30th”: something happened on November 30th and it had just been the most, I mean, indescribable thing to have to witness and like experience.”
The audio video for “The 30th” was uploaded to Eilish’s official YouTube channel on the 21st July 2022. Exactly one month later, the video had almost 5 million views.
