“TV” is the first song from Billie Eilish’s second EP “Guitar Songs“, which was unexpectedly released on the 21st July 2022 through Interscope and Darkroom Records.
The slow ballad sees Eilish open up with describing a depressive episode where she cannot sleep due to an argument with a partner – so stays up watching television instead. The chorus sees Eilish realise the toll her romantic relationship has had on her relationship with her friends, losing contact with them over time. In the second verse, Eilish ponders how her fame has affected friendships, as well as the hypocrisy around the internet choosing to focus on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s trial rather than the overturning of Roe vs. Wade earlier this year. The song is ultimately an insight into a complete look into your own life and attempting to distract yourself from it by watching TV.
The audio video was uploaded to Eilish’s channel on the 21st July 2022. One month later, the video had a total of 5.4 million views.
