“L’AMOUR DE MA VIE” is the seventh track from American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish’s third album “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT”, which was released in May 2024 and received highly positive feedback from critics and fans alike.
The track is split into two parts, with the first part being soft and gentle, with Eilish wishing her ex-partner the best for the rest of their life as well as reminscing on some of the hypocrisies of that relationship. The second part of the song is more upbeat and leans more into the electro-pop sound, with Eilish’s voice heavy with autotune. Eilish then goes on to be estatic that the relationship is over, and that they are both free of each other and a partnership that was not working.
After the release of the album, Eilish and her brother and producer Finneas spoke to Apple Music about “L’AMOUR DE MA VIE”, revealing that they had written a track titled “Over Now” in 2022 and were unclear what to do with it, but ultimately choose it to be the second part of “L’AMOUR DE MA VIE”.
On the 22nd May 2024, an extended version of “L’AMOUR DE MA VIE” was released titled “L’AMOUR DE MA VIE [OVER NOW EXTENDED EDIT]”.
