“ilomilo” is the eleventh track from Eilish’s latest album “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?”, released in March earlier this year.
A lot of Eilish’s dedicated fans hypothesised that the track was named after a 2010 puzzle game, where the aim of the game is to reunite “Ilo” and “Milo” at the end of the game. The lyrics coincide with the final goal of the game, with “hurry, I’m worried”, and Eilish attempting to convince her lover that “they’re never gonna give you love like ours”. The track heavily features a video game style echo in the vocals to a upbeat almost eerie instrumental, following the narrative of the real life game. On YouTube’s popular series “Hot Ones” by channel “First We Feast”, Billie Eilish answered questions about herself while eating progressively hotter vegan chicken wings. Eilish spoke about the track, telling the host: “…The whole idea is the game, it’s just like, losing the person you love and then finding them again.” Eilish also told Radio Energy that “ilomilo” is one her favourite tracks she has ever written.
There is currently no music video for the track, but the official audio upload on YouTube has over 10 million views since its upload on the 28th March 2019.
