“Blinding Lights” is the second single from Canadian rapper The Weeknd’s upcoming fourth studio album.
Released one day after his latest single “Heartless”, “Blinding Lights” was released, and was written by The Weeknd, Ahmad Balshe (known as Belly), Jason Quenneville, Max Martin and Oscar Halter. Halter, Martin and The Weeknd also produced the track. The Weeknd dicusses a significant other on the track; comparing the effect they have on him, comparing them to bright lights that light up his life, as well as his inability to do normal things such as sleep, without them.
There is currently no official music video for the track, however “Blinding Lights” is featured in the latest German automobile company Mercedes-Benz advert. Released on the 2nd December, it features The Weeknd driving the car while passing young children skateboarding. It also features of old cars being driven around, switching between the present and the past. In less than one week, the video has over 1 million views.
