“Lost Cause” is the latest single from American singer and songwriter Billie Eilish and her upcoming sophomore album “Happier Than Ever”, which is due to be released through Darkroom and Interscope Records on the 30th July 2021. The track was written by Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell, who also produces all of Eilish’s songs.
“Lost Cause” is a new but familiar sound from Eilish, with “Lost Cause” giving a subtle nod to EIlish’s 2017 track “my boy”. “Lost Cause” focuses on a relationship that Eilish knows is a “last cause”, as her ex-partner thinks they are extremely cool yet have no stable financial income, which Eilish calls them out for.
The music video was directed by Eilish and was released alongside the single on the 2nd June 2021. The video shows Eilish and friends dancing around, laying on a bed, having a food fight and singing along to the track. In a little over a week, the video received over 40.2 million views and 2.4 million likes.
