The third track off of her last studio EP “don’t smile at me” released in 2017. Written by both Billie and her brother Finneas (who also engineered the track), the song is a pop/R&B alternative self-empowered, confidence fuelled track that screams self-love and self-appreciation.
The narrator of the track (Eilish) essentially openly discusses how she doesn’t feel like she can trust her lover anymore and how she’s banishing him out of her life. And how he “ain’t a man and sure as hell ain’t honest”, as well as not giving her the love he promised her “don’t love me like he promised”. Eilish also uses the metaphor of “split ends”, and how her lover loves his friends as much as she loves the split ends in her hair – so she cuts them off. This is a hug insight into the personality and mindset of her lover, potentially describing him as a very spontaneous and toxic person. Eilish also references how when her boy shows he emotions he appears unattractive: “my boy’s an ugly crier”, but how when he’s lying and deceiving her “he’s such a pretty liar”. This alludes to a more manipulative and toxic relationship that Eilish may have experienced, and constantly comments on how he is not a man and is not honest to her. She ends the track with a confirmation of her own power and how if her lover does want to carry on having Eilish, then he must also be hers as well, once again alluding to an issue of loyalty and mistrust.
A music video was never released for the track, but the audio video has over 26 million views.

I don’t think it means that he’s gay, it just means that she doesn’t trust him and calling him toxic

Wait… so like was this song actually based off her ex boyfriend, Henry Whitford? Or like is it just like a song she wanted to make in general based off nobody?
