Mistletoe

“Mistletoe” is the second song from Justin Bieber’s 2011 Christmas Album “Under the Mistletoe”, which was released through Island Records and RBMG. The pop Christmas song was written by Bieber, Nasri Atweh from the group Magic! and Adam Messinger, with production done by Canadian production time The Messengers.

“Mistletoe” was very positively received after its release, with many critics praising Bieber for a “chilled-out” Christmas song. Bieber first teased the song in October 2011 while on tour in Brazil, stating that the song would be released later that month. Speaking to MTV News, Bieber said of the song: “I’m really excited. [The song is] really catchy. I know all my fans are going to love it. It’s something that I feel like they’re going to be singing every Christmas.” Lyrically, the song details the beautiful views and traditions of the festive season, with Bieber telling his lover that he feels he may miss out on the festivities as he cannot stop looking at her.

The music video for “Mistletoe” was released via Bieber’s YouTube on the 19th October 2011. Filmed by director Roman White (whom Bieber had previously worked with for his 2009 hit single “One Less Lonely Girl”) the video was shot in Franklin, Tennesse, and shows Bieber singing in the snow while doing festive activities with his partner, where the pair end up kissing and dancing under the mistletoe. As of mid-December 2020, the video has 416.5 million views and over 2.8 million likes.
