“we can’t be friends (wait for your love) is the tenth track from American singer and songwriter Ariana Grande’s seventh studio album “eternal sunshine”. The album was released on the 8th March through Republic Records.
The synth-pop song marks the second single from Ariana Grande’s “eternal sunshine”and breaks down the complex feelings of the breakdown of a relationship filled with unrequited love. Speaking to Amazon Music, Grande revealed what her intentions were for the song:
“They make me really emotional, those strings. I love those strings. […] I wanted it to be something that everyone could relate to. It can be whoever you want it to be about, but I know for me what it’s about. I have a hard time going into specifics because I feel like that’s not the point of it. The point is to leave it up for people to make of it what they will.”
The music video was released on the 8th March on Grande’s YouTube channel, and was inspired by the film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.
