“Falling” is the sixth track from the twelve track album “Fine Line”, from pop artist Harry Styles. Released in December 2019, “Falling” was written by Styles and Thomas Hull, with production done by Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson. The track is about dealing with self-made mistakes and falling into a lifestyle and personality that is no longer who or what it used to be.
In a 2019 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Styles speaks about how the track came to exist. “I was showering and he [Tom] was playing on the piano, and as I came out of the shower he was playing the “dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun” [chorus]. I went and stood next to him at the piano – just in a towel, we kinda just wrote the whole thing.” Lowe asks Styles how long the track took to write, Styles tell him “probably 20 minutes”. Lowe asks Styles one final question about the track: “What do you think you were saying in that song listening back to it now?”, to which Styles responds: “The chorus says like “What am I now? Am I someone I don’t want around?” – it was a big moment where I was kind of asking myself – “What am I doing?” I kind of started to feel threads of where I could see myself becoming someone that I didn’t want to be.”
There is currently no music video for “Falling”, however the official audio upload on Harry Style’s YouTube has 3.3 million views and over a quarter of a million likes since its upload on 13th December 2019.
