“Matilda” is the seventh track from Harry Styles’ from his third studio album “Harry’s House”, which was released on the 20th May 2022 through Columbia Records and Erskine Records.
“Matilda” is a folk song that sees Styles reminisce about a friend and experiences in their life that they opened up to Styles about. In an interview with Apple Music Zane Lowe, Styles revealed that the title of the song came from the famous Roald Dahl book of the same name. Styles also opened up about the song to Lowe:
“I had an experience with someone where, in getting to know them better, they revealed some stuff to me that was very much like ‘Oh, that’s not normal, I think you should get some help’… […] This song was inspired by that experience and person…”
There is currently no music video for “Matilda”, but there is an official audio video on Styles’ YouTube channel that as of the 10th July 2022, had almost 8 million views.
