“Dynamite” is the latest release from South Korean boy band BTS and is there first song to be fully recorded in English. The track was written by David Stewart and Jessica Agombar, with production done by Stewart.
“Dynamite” is a disco-pop song incorporating funk and soul elements that discusses hard times in life and trying to overcome them with positivity and happiness. In a livestream on the 26th July 2020 on V Live, BTS announced that they would be releasing an English song on the 21st August 2020. When talking about the track, BTS has stated that “due to COVID-19, people around the world have been going through tough times and we wanted to share some positive energy with our fans.”
The music video for “Dynamite” was released on the 21st August 2020 via one of BTS record labels’ Big Hit Labels YouTube channel. Directed by Yong Seok Choi, the video shows BTS singing “Dynamite” behind sunset skies and outside diners, with pastel coloured clothes. In only 24 hours, the video has over 60 million views. The video became the fastest YouTube video to ever reach 10 million views only after 20 minutes of release. In only four days, the video had 200 million views. As of early September 2020, the video currently has 277 million views and 16 million likes.
