Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)

“Boy With Luv” is the 2019 K-Pop hit from South Korean boy band BTS, featuring American singer Halsey. The song was written by Pdogg, RM, Melanie Joy Fontana, Michel “Lindgren” Schulz, “Hitman” Bang, Suga, Emily Weisband, J-Hope and Ashley Frangipane (Halsey), with Pdogg in charge of production. The track was released on the 12th April 2019 through Big Hit Entertainment. The song is featured on the group’s sixth EP: “Map of the Soul: Persona”.

“Boy With Luv” is an upbeat EDM and K-pop track that discusses happiness and love and all the wonderful feelings and emotions that come with being in love. Suga from BTS expressed to MTV.com why they chose to work with Halsey for “Boy With Luv”:

“[We wanted] an artist who was able to express a variety of emotions, and we believed Halsey was appropriate for this… We first met two years ago, and we felt that our passion in music connected.”

The music video for “Boy With Luv” was released via Big Hit Labels YouTube channel on the 12th April 2019. Directed by Yong-Seok Choi, the video follows BTS outside a cinema building that says “Persona” (the name of the album “Boy With Luv” is on). BTS then eventually change sets to an old school diner, continuously moving and the group’s outfits changing to match their surroundings. Halsey appears towards the end of the video to perform outside the Persona cinema with BTS. In only 24 hours, the video received 3 million likes and 74.6 million views. As of early December 2020, the video has over 1 billion views and 19 million likes.
