“Visiting Hours” is the second single from British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran and his upcoming album “=“, which is the singer’s fifth album (fourth solo) and is due to be released through Atlantic Records and Asylum Records on the 29th October 2021.
“Visiting Hours” sees Sheeran pay homage to a departed one, which he debuted live at the state funeral of Australian music promoter Michael Gudinski back in March 2021. Sheeran had to quarantine for two weeks in order to attend Gudinski‘s funeral and stated in that time he finished “Visiting Hours” near the Hawkesbury River in New South Wales. Before the performance, Sheeran had this to say:
“In lockdown, I was able to have a guitar for quarantine… I always find the best way to process stuff is to write songs—be it good news, bad news, or whatever, and, yeah—here’s a song I finished last week.”
The video for “Visiting Hours” was released on the same day as the single via Sheeran‘s official YouTube channel, and was directed by Dan Massie. The video shows Sheeran singing the song live in a church with backing singers and a band. In only 24 hours, the video had under 3 million views with almost 150 thousand likes.
