“Shivers” is the latest single from British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran and his upcoming fifth studio album “=”, which is due to be released on the 29th October 2021.
“Shivers” is following in the same footsteps as other singles from the album in terms of sound, with Sheeran choosing dance-pop this time around rather than slow and soft. Ed Sheeran spoke about the process of the song’s creation in a post on Instagram:
“I wrote [“Shivers”] as soon as the Divide tour ended in a rented farm in Suffolk where we had set up a studio for a couple of weeks to see what happened. it was written over the course of 3 days which is very different for me, but I felt it was too special to get wrong. it was originally meant to be the first single but I just didn’t see a world where “Bad Habits” existed if it didn’t come out in the summer. “Shivers” always felt more autumnal. I hope you like it, I bloody love it. the video is wild, but youl see that next week.”
The music video for “Shivers” was released on the 10th September 2021 via Ed Sheeran‘s YouTube channel. Directed by Dave Meyers (who also directed Sheeran‘s “Bad Habits“). The video features actress AnnaSophia Robb and Ed Sheeran dancing and meeting in various locations and dancing. Sheeran also spoke about the music video on Instagram, revealing there was no set meaning for the song’s music video:
“I did this video with Dave Meyers who made “Bad Habits”. And it’s equally as insane and wild. The wonderful Anna Sophia Robb stars in it too, it was so fun to film. Hope you enjoy it guyzzzz, don’t ask me what it means or what it’s about coz I have no idea either.“
In one week, the video had received over 20 million views with over 738 thousand likes.
