“Stupid Love” is the first single in three years from American singer, songwriter and actress Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta), from her upcoming sixth studio album.
“Stupid Love” is a high energy electro-pop track about falling in love and Gaga admitting she wants her lover to lover her with their “stupid love”. It was written by Lady Gaga, Ely “Rise” Weisfield, Michael Tucker, Marin Bresso and Max Martin; with production being done by Michael Tucker under the name “BloodPop” and by Martin Bresso under the name “Tchami”. The song was announced via social media on the 25th February 2020, with it being released on the 28th. The song has received mostly positive reviews, with some critics claiming the track to be a big song for the summer.
The music video was released alongside the track on YouTube. Directed by Daniel Askill with choreography by Richard Jackson, the video was filmed in Trona Pinnacles in California, and features Gaga combatting various fights between factions in order to restore world order. In less than one week, the video has almost 18 million views with 846 thousand likes.
