“Houdini” is the lead single from English-Albanian singer Dua Lipa and her upcoming third studio album. Released on the 9th November 2023 through Warner Records, “Houdini” marks a new era of sound for Lipa.
The nu-disco and electronica track sees Lipa embody the freedom of being single and knowing your worth. Speaking to Apple Music, Lipa explained the song’s meaning:
““Houdini” embodies the energy of a good night out. This was the first track I wrote about that fun and freeing time of being single. The lyrics are a bit cheeky, but there is a real underlying message of understanding yourself deeply and having no guilt about knowing your self-worth. Sometimes you just have to pull a Houdini and leave a situation that’s no longer serving you.”
The music video for “Houdini” was directed by Manu Cossu and was released alongside the single on the 9th November 2023. In 2 weeks, the video received 34 million views.
