Heartless” is the latest single from R&B singer The Weeknd from his fourth studio album, which is due to be released in 2020. It is the musician’s first single since his 2019 track “Call Out My Name”.
The track was co-written by The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) with its producers Metro Boomin (Andre Proctor) and Illangelo (Carlo Montagnese), and references The Weeknd’s exes: Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez. The first part of the song consists of The Weeknd discussing his return to his old dating ways after his break-ups, with the second half of the track focusing on his turbulent relationship with Hadid, as well as the multitude of drugs and alcohol involved in his life.
The music video for “Heartless” was directed by Anton Tammi and premiered on The Weeknd’s YouTube channel on the 3rd December 2019. It appears to have been shot in Las Vegas in the Caesars Palace Casino. It features The Weeknd with Metro Boomin gambling, drinking and doing drugs with incredibly bright lights surrounding them. The video ends with The Weeknd throwing up in Las Vegas after running away from his drug-induced visions. As of the 5th December 2019, the video has over 5.8 million views and over 443 thousand likes. It is currently stands #19 on the Trending worldwide tab on YouTube.
