Lay All Your Love On Me

ABBA

Album Super Trouper

“Lay All Your Love On Me” is a track by Swedish group ABBA, and it appeared on their seventh studio album “Super Trouper”, which was released 1980. “Lay All Your Love On Me” was originally released as a single in July 1981, a year after the “Super Trouper” release.

“Lay All Your Love On Me” was written and produced by ABBA members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, with lead vocals sung by member Agnetha Fältskog. According to Andersson and Ulvaeus, they felt that the chorus of the song sounded similar to a hymn, therefore adding the vocoder to the chorus of the song, creating a sound that imitates that of a church congregation singing. Unfortunately, it was ABBA’s lowest charting single since “I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do”.

A music video for the song was filmed using shots from previous music videos such as “Voulez-Vous”, “Take a Chance on Me” and more. Epic was in charge of compiling the promotional video together for a total cost of £3,500. The music video was never shown on TV as the Epic managers did not believe it was necessary; however the video is available on the ABBA Gold VHS. On YouTube, the song can be found on ABBA’s channel. Since its upload in December 2018, the video has 3.1 million views.
