“Guilty as Sin?” is the ninth track from American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and her eleventh album that was released in April 2024 through UMG.
“Guilty as Sin?” is a pop rock song believed about the public’s reaction to the singer short lived relationship with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, who has garnered a fair amount of controversy throughout his career. A line from the track that strongly suggests this is the song’s opening lines:
“Drowin’ in the Blue Nile / He sent me “Downtown Lights” / Hadn’t heard it in a while”
The Blue Nile is a Scottish band which Matty Healy has once named as his favourite.
The track references Swift dreaming about infidelity, where she dreams of kissing a different man than the one she is currently in a relationship with. This could be a reference to her struggling to not think about Matty Healy while being with long term ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
