“Fireside” is British indie band the Arctic Monkeys’ eighth song from their 2013 album, “AM”. Written by front man Alex Turner with production by Ross Orton and James Ford, the song was released on the 6th September 2013, just three days before the release of the “AM” album.
“Fireside” as a frustrated indie pop ballad about the unpredictable ways of love and how difficult it can be moving on from a lover. The song features Turner recalling their memories together, stating in the second verse:
“There’s all those places we used to go
And I suspect you already know
But that place on memory lane you like still looks the same
But something about it’s changed”
The song is suspected to be about Turner’s ex girlfriend Alexa Chung, a well known UK fashion model, broadcaster and designer, whom he broke up with in August of 2011.
A music video for “Fireside” has never been released despite the track being a firm favourite among fans. The official audio upload on the 9th December 2014 from the Arctic Monkeys’ YouTube channel has almost 1 million views and over 6.4 thousand likes.
