Chemtrails Over The Country Club” is the second track from Lana Del Rey’s seventh studio album of the same name, released through Interscope Records and Polydor Records on the 11th January 2021, with the full album being released in March. “Chemtrails Over The Country Club” was written and produced by Lana Del Rey and frequent collaborator producer Jack Antonoff.
“Chemtrails Over The Country Club” is a slow song like all of Del Rey’s music, but is similar to the tracks from her last album “Norman F**King Rockwell!” in terms of its echoey vocals and long outro. Del Rey uses the image of chemtrails to contradict the sweet image of summer memories and lust. The song received positive reviews, with Rhian Daly from NME describing the track as “swooning… beautiful”, while Pitchfork gave the song a 7.5 out of 10.
The music video for “Chemtrails Over The Country Club” was directed by American film production duo BRTHR, and stars Del Rey driving a red 1930’s Mercedes-Benz convertible, intertwined with shots if her lounging about a pool in a country club with friends, while chemtrails fill the sky. Since its upload to YouTube on the 11th January 2021, the video has accumulated over 19 million views with 762 thousand likes.
