“Tears In The Club” (feat. The Weeknd) is British singer-songwriter and performer FKA twigs latest single from her upcoming mixtape “CAPRI SUN“, which is due to be released on the 14th January 2022. The track features critically acclaimed Canadian singer The Weeknd.
This sensual, melancholic electronic R&B track does not disappoint – and no one would expect any less. FKA twigs delivers in every project, song and performance that she has developed a strong reputation of incredible bodies of emotive, visually exciting and eclectic work. The grief-and-anxiety-filled track engulfs the listener into a world of a couple processing a romantic relationship that has ended, reliving the pain, memories and intimacy that comes with a breakup. Speaking on her official Discord server, FKA twigs broke down the song’s musical inspirations as well as her experience working with the producers and The Weeknd:
“arca did the keys in a super cute reggaeton esq jam 💕 el guincho heard the sketch and was like that has so much potential and helped me craft the song more and added more sonics then cirkut shut it dowwwnnnn and really transformed it into an ethereal rnb banger. it was really fun working with cirkut, i learnt so much and put a lot of trust in him. i am super grateful for all the work that everyone put in at each integral stage of this song and also to abel for believing in the vision and writing such a beautiful verse.”
The music video was released on the 17th December 2021 via FKA twigs’ YouTube channel. Directed by Amber Grace Johnson, and sees FKA twigs crying in a club in various outfits, with dancers around her, licking her tears. Viewers are then shown The Weeknd crying in an armchair as he watches FKA twigs dance around a pool in a container of liquid. The Weeknd is then shown to be miniature in size, while FKA twigs appears to be a giant, picking The Weeknd up while he sings, placing him on her hand. In 5 days, the video had received almost 2.5 million views, with almost 100k likes.
