Talk talk

Charli XCX

Album BRAT

“Talk talk” is the fifth track from Charli xcx‘s her critically acclaimed 2024 album “BRAT”.

The house-pop track sees Charli xcx discuss the sexual tension between her and a soon to be partner, and revealed in a TikTok that the song was about her fiancé before they were officially together:

““Talk Talk” is about, like, a very specific moment where me and my fiancé, we were not together, but we were definitely, like, very into each other, we were at the NME Awards, we were both sort of sat on different tables and we were, like, texting each other, but we weren’t, like, hanging out, but we were both, like, looking over at each other […] you know when you just feel like someone’s watching you? You can feel, like, a hole burning in the back of your head or something like that? It was very much that moment. In the song I say, “I followed you to the bathroom, then I felt crazy”. I did actually do that, I saw that he went to the bathroom so I was like, “Oh, I’ll, like, go to the bathroom and then maybe we’ll, like, bump into each other and we won’t be, like, texting all the time”, but then I, like, got halfway there and I was like, “This is insane” and then I went and sat down again.”
