“Beg For You” is the third single from English singer-songwriter Charli XCX and her fifth studio album “CRASH“, which was released on the 18th March 2022. The UK garage infused eurodance pop song features Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama.
Lyrically, the song sees both Charli XCX and Sawayama plead to their lover not to leave them, stating that both of them would go to extent of begging their lover if that would change their mind about having to leave. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Charli XCX revealed her inspiration behind the hit track:
“It feels to me like one of those songs that comes on at the height of a party where you are a little bit [fucked] up, you maybe want to cry, but you also want to dance. When I was driving through L.A. listening to this beat for the first time, I felt a real sense of euphoria – but also this quite nostalgic thing.”

Charli XCX also spoke to Apple Music about collaborating with Sawayama and the sound they both chose to go for:
“Rina wanted to do something uptempo together, and give our fans a bit more of a moment […] It’s a very perfect-storm moment, because we’re two artists operating within the pop sphere, but always challenging it and doing something a little bit more left. She also has that hardcore, diehard fanbase—there’s a lot of crossover […] I think, in a way, you can’t deny that this actually is the perfect song for us in that we are paying a homage to a gay anthem [“Cry for You” by September]. She’s queer, I’m a queer ally, we’re coming together […].
The music video for “Beg For You” premiered on the 11th February via Charli XCX’s YouTube channel. Directed by Nick Harwood, the video shows both Charli XCX and Sawayama dancing in a field of telephone pylons, appearing to be part of some cult. As of the 21st March 2022, the video had a total of 3.2 million views and 97 thousand likes.
