Snow On The Beach (feat. Lana Del Rey)

Taylor Swift

Album Midnights

“Snow On The Beach” featuring Lana Del Rey is the fourth track from Taylor Swift’s tenth studio album “Midnights”, which was released on the 21st October 2022 via Republic Records.

The dream-pop track sees American singers Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey team up for a track all about falling in love – specifically the moment where two people fall in love with each other at the same time. Swift admitted on Instagram that she was a huge fan of Del Rey’s and had always wanted to collaborate with her, as well as very openly voicing her love for Del Rey’s music in the past.

On the 12th October, Swift posted the meaning behind “Snow On The Beach” in a TikTok and Instagram series titled “Midnights Mayhem With Me”, expressing her excitement about the collaboration:

” […] I am such a massive fan of Lana Del Rey, more on that later. The song is about falling in love with someone at the same time as they’re falling in love with you, in this sort of in this cataclysmic, faded moment where you realize someone feels exactly the same way that you feel, at the same moment, and you’re kind of looking around going, “Wait, is this real? Is this a dream? Is this for real? Is it really happening? Kinda like it would be if you were to see snow falling on a beach. And Lana Del Rey is, in my opinion, one of the best musical artists ever […] and the fact that she would be so generous as to collaborate with us on this song is something I’m gonna be grateful for life.”

In an interview about the album on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, Swift revealed that actor Dylan O’Brien (who starred in Swift’s “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) [From The Vault]” in 2021) was also in the studio while Swift and Antonoff were recording “Snow On The Beach”. This led to O’Brien playfully messing about on the drums, but eventually he ended up recording the drums for the song.

The lyric video was uploaded to Swift’s YouTube channel on the 22nd October 2022. As of the 8th November 2022, the video had a total of 7.9 million views.
