“Nobody Gets Me” is the fourteenth track from American singer, songwriter and rapper SZA and her second album “SOS”, which was released on the 9th December 2022 via RCA Records and Top Dawg.
in “Nobody Gets Me”, SZA is singing to her ex-fiancé, remembering both the good times and bad times in their relationship, and ultimately what led to the end of their relationship. SZA goes into detail about how they would use sex to alleviate arguments, as well as how their relationship became distanced when SZA had to tour. Speaking to HOT 97, SZA opened up about the extremely vulnerable song:
“This particular song in entirety is a story about my ex-fiancé and how we went through all these arguments, and we broke up. And when we first broke up it was like terible, and I just felt like I was gonna be doomed to be in hell for the rest of my life because nobody understood me the way he did […] The stories that I tell in that song about our arguments… That’s the theme on that. I feel like a lot of people don’t understand me but it’s okay.”
The music video for the song was released via SZA’s YouTube on the 9th December 2022. Directed by Bradley J. Calder, the video had a total of 3.9 million views on the 20th December 2022.
