The song comes from Swift’s re-release and re-recording of her 2008 album “Fearless”, re-releasing the album as “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” in April 2021 under Republic Records.
“Mr. Perfectly Fine (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” is a country-pop track that sees Swift reminisce about a romantic relationship where he partner at that time comes across as a player, making many promises and ultimately leaving Swift. Many fans have hypothesised that the song was about Jonas Brother member Joe Jonas. Speaking to Amazon Echo, Swift expressed her love for the song:
“[…] I really love this song, and I love the bridge, I think the lyrics are just wonderfully scathing, and full of the teen angst that you would hope to hear on an album I wrote when I was 17 or 18, or you know, on that cusp.”
