“long story short” is the twelfth track on from Taylor Swift’s ninth studio album “evermore”, which was released on the 11th December 2020 through Republic Records. Like all songs on the album, “long story short” was written by Swift and Dessner, with Dessner in charge of production.
“long story short” sums up Swift’s personal and public struggles throughout her career. The indie rock song features guitars, drums and strings, and emphasizes that she would be lost without her current partner. The track does start off fairly bitter, but towards the end Swift does come to peace with her struggles and feels grateful to have found the right man.
There is currently no music video for “long story short”, but the lyric video was uploaded to Swift’s YouTube channel on the 11th December 2020. In a little over a week, the video has 115 thousand likes and 2.2 million views.
