“illicit affairs” is the 10th track from American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift and her eighth studio album “folklore”, which was released theough Republic records on the 24th July 2020. The track was written and produced by producer Jack Antonoff and Taylor Swift.
“illicit affairs” is a slow folk song that discusses infidelity and the extents to which the narrator goes to keep the affair a secret, such as lying to their friends, pretending they have gone out for a run, but they are meeting their lover. The song also discusses the breakdown of the sanity and confidence in ones’ self while in a toxic and unhealthy relationship.
The official lyric video was uploaded to Swift’s YouTube channel on the 24th July 2020 and features a shot of a rainy road in a wood. As of the beginning of October 2020, the video has 5.8 million views and 145 thousand likes.
