Gimme

“Gimme” is the ninth track from Sam Smith and their fourth studio album “Gloria”, which was released via Capitol Records in January 2023. The song features Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez (whom Smith has previously worked with) and Jamaican singer musician Koffee.

“Gimme” is a new sound for Smith, and features strong influences of reggae. The track is unapologetically sexual, seeing the singers bluntly ask their partners/lovers/friends for sex. Speaking to Billboard, Smith revealed that the song and music video were based on an experience they had with Reyez while they were working on the track in Jamaica:

“Me and Jessie were basically drunk, drinking whisky in Jamaica, two in the morning, running around absolutely wasted, like two girlfriends having a laugh.”

The music video for the song was uploaded to Smith’s YouTube channel on the 13th January 2023, and as of the 17th February 2023, the video had a total of 3.2 million views.
