“Carolina” is the single from Taylor Swift for 2018 book-turned-film “Where The Crawdads Sing“, which was released in July 2022. The track was written by Taylor Swift, as well as being produced by Swift along with Aaron Dessner.
The Appalachian folk song sees Swift detail the storyline of the book, where a young woman named Kya grows up isolated in the marsh of South Carolina (hence the song’s title). Swift took to her Instagram to reveal the track:
“Where The Crawdads Sing is a book I got absolutely lost in when I read it years ago. As soon as I heard there was a film in the works starring the incredible Daisy Edgar Jones and produced by the brilliant Reese Witherspoon, […] I wanted to be a part of it […]. I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story.”
The official lyric video for the song was uploaded to Swift’s YouTube channel on the 24th June 2022. As of the 19th July 2022, the video had a total of 2.7 million views.
