“Both Sides Of A Smile” is the 2021 track from British rapper Dave and his second studio album “We’re All Alone In This Together“, which was released through Neighbourhood Recordings on the 23rd July 2021. The song features British producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist James Blake.
The song sees Blake take the lead at the beginning, discussing the low and highs of love, with background vocals from up-and-coming rapper ShaSimone, who ultimately is playing as a significant other as Dave and Blake go back and forth, emulating an argument. Dave really shines in the second part of the song, where he discusses his upbringing, his mother’s pain and his acts of crime earlier in his life. This track marks the first collaboration between Dave and James Blake.
There is no official music video for “Both Sides Of A Smile“, however the official audio is available to listen to via Dave’s YouTube channel. Since its upload in July 2021, the video, as of late September, the video has over 880 thousand views and over 13 thousand likes.
