2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)

The fourth single on American singer, songwriter and musician Lizzo’s fourth album “Special”, “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” is a an upbeat pop song that sees Lizzo reveal her insecurities and worries about being in love.

The second single from the album, the song sees Lizzo express her anxiety around being in love and the concept of falling in love. Lizzo also expresses the importance of her needing to love and like herself before being with someone else. Lizzo spoke to Apple Music about working with producer Max Martin on the song:

“As someone who’s been writing songs since I was 9, who studied music since I was 12, and who dreamed of being a performer, Max Martin is the dream collaborator […] The song is a callback to when pop records had key changes—that golden era of late-‘80s and early-’90s pop when singers had massive records that were vocally impressive but also danceable…” 

The music video was released via Lizzo’s official YouTube on the 15th August 2022. Directed by Lizzo alongside Christian Breslauer. As of the 23rd August 2022 the video had a total of 6.6 million views.
