“About Damn Time” is the lead single from American rapper and singer Lizzo and her fourth studio album “Special”. Due to be released this summer, “Special” will be released through Nice Life and Atlantic Recordings.
“About Damn Time” is a catchy and upbeat disco-inspired track and sees Lizzo create yet another feel good song – a musical signature of hers. Lyrically, the track details a journey of healing emotionally and mentally, with the lyric “about damn time” alluding to the length of time it has taken for Lizzo to heal, and how glad she is that she finally has. Complete with uplifting and beautiful lyrics, “About Damn Time” is set to be a summer hit.
The music video for “About Damn Time” was released via Lizzo’s YouTube channel on the 14th April 2022. Directed by Christian Breslauer, the video shows Lizzo attending a “stressed & sexy” support group, in which she leaves to dance around the school when asked a question. The video also features an iconic flute solo that Lizzo so often slips into her tracks. In only 5 days, the video had a total of 9 million views and 186 thousand likes.
