AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM

Beyoncé

Album RENAISSANCE

“AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM” is the fourteenth track from American singer Beyoncé and her seventh studio album “RENAISSANCE”, which was released in July 2022 through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records.

The title of the track stems from the iconic 90’s track “America Has A Problem (Cocaine)” from Kilo Ali, and also gets sampled in Beyoncé’s track. In the track, Beyoncé compares herself to cocaine and its addictiveness, along with the turbulent emotions it brings. She emphasises the addictive nature of her love and the constant back and forth of her partner to her – just like the drug.

In May 2023, a remix of the song was released featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar, who also wrote his own lyrics for the track.

The lyric video for the track was released via Beyoncé’s official YouTube channel on the 29th July 2022. As of the 23rd May 2023, the video had a total 7.1 million views.
