“Red (Taylor’s Version)” is the second song from award winning American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and her second re-recorded album of the same name, released on the 12th November 2021 via Republic Records. Swift decided to re-release her first six studio albums with Republic Records after her dispute with her former label Big Machine Records, who did not allow Swift to purchase the masters to her recording.
“Red (Taylor’s Version)” sees Swift mix genres, from country to pop, as well as electronic when Swift sings the chorus. Lyrically, Swift discusses a love that she equates to different colours, with her life before meeting her ex being deemed as grey, but then falling in love with the said lover and her equating their love to the colour “red”. As with Swift’s songs, the track takes the listener on an emotional journey, both lyrically and sonically.
The lyric video for “Red (Taylor’s Version)” was uploaded to Swift’s official YouTube channel on the 12th November 2021.
