“The Giver” is the country pop single from American singer-songwriter Chappell Roan. The song was released on the 13th March 2025 through Amusement and Island Records. Prior to the single’s release, Roan had billboards across America wearing the outfits of various professions such as plumber, lawyer and private investigator. The ads served to promote “The Giver” and it’s lyrics.
“The Giver” sees Roan brag about her ability to make her lover feel sexually fulfilled, unlike the other boys they may be dating. It marks on the few queer country songs, and was inspired by Roan’s mid-Western roots.
Roan spoke about the creation of “The Giver” via an Instagram post in March 2025:
“Dan Nigro and I wrote this together and it was so fun!!! We’ve never done a country song and I have such a special place in my heart for country music. I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus and had it swirling around me at bon fires, grocery stores and karaoke bars. Many people have asked if this means I’m making a country album??? My answer is.. hmm right now I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun and The Giver is my take […] I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for yall *✲☆⋆”
