“Let You Love Me” is the latest track from British pop singer Rita Ora from her upcoming album: “PHOENIX”. Ora rose to fame in 2012 when she featured on DJ Fresh’s 2012 single “Hot Right Now” that reached #1 on the UK Singles chart.
“Let You Love Me” is an emotional track about Ora’s lack of ability to allow someone to treat her right and love her. “I think I just run away sometimes/ Whenever I get too vulnerable”, she sings in the first verse. “I wish I could let you love me / Say, what’s the matter, what’s the matter with me?” in the chorus she challenges herself to try to understand why she’s not allowing herself to accept love and compassion. The song’s lyrics are extremely raw and relatable, but the beat and melody of the song provides a more light-hearted feel overall.
The music video was also released on the 21st September 2018, and was filmed in London. Featuring Burberry model Sonny Hall playing Ora’s lover at a hosue party for the night, the video has over 100 million views since its release. Its simple cinematography allows the viewer to focus on the message of the song but also the realistic situation makes it far more relatable. At the end of the video, Ora leaves with a woman (whether this is a friend or a potential lover for the night is unclear) waving goodbye to Hall who is leaning out the window.
