“LET GO” is the final 2022 single from British rapper and songwriter Central Cee, which he self-released on the 15th December 2022.
The UK drill/indie track sees Cee sample the 2012 hit “Let Her Go” from Passenger, and sees him take a new turn sonically. The track is very different for Cee: a different sound, as well as the lyrics being the most vulnerable we’ve seen from him yet. Cee reminisces on a past love in the track, wondering where it went wrong, remembering all the good times he had with this person.
The song was originally not going to be released, as Central Cee’s girlfriend Madeline Argy did not approve of the track due the word “hoes” being in the chorus. However, Argy backtracked leading Cee to release the song after a snippet of it went viral on TikTok.
The music video for “LET GO” was released on the 15th December 2022 on Central Cee’s YouTube channel. Directed by Kunography, the video had a total of 25 million views as of the 12th January 2023.
