“Holiday” is the first single from American rapper and singer Lil Nas X and his upcoming debut album which is due to be released at some point before the end of this year. The hip-hop song was written by Montero Hill (Lil Nas X), Brytavious Chambers, David Biral, Denzel Baptiste, Jocelyn Donald & Tyler Brooks, with production done by Tay Keith and producer Take a Daytrip.

“Holiday” is a hip-hop song that is an ode to the festive and holiday season, but in a unique way where Lil Nas X raps about his group of lovers, as well as bragging about his accomplishments. Speaking to Zane Lowe from Apple Music about the new album, Lil Nas X spoke about the track and its creation:

“ay Keith did just whip this up for me… This song actually started in February. All the way back in February. But at first it was just melodies over a beat. Then it took until summertime till I’m like, ‘Okay, boom. Let’s do this. Let’s do this.’ We always had ‘HOLIDAY’ as a name and then we brought us to this point where you see me just dressed like this to really give it a mood.”

The music video for “Holiday” was released alongside the official track on the 13th November, through Lil Nas X’s YouTube channel. With both Lil Nas X and Gibson Hazard directing the video, “Holiday” the video shows Lil Nas X as a futuristic Santa Claus in his workshop, set in the year 2220. As of the end of November 2020, the video has 46.2 million views and 1.6 million likes.
