“Garden Song” is the second song from Americans singer and songwriter Phoebe Bridgers and her second studio album “Punisher”, released in June 2020. “Garden Song” is slow pop ballad where Bridgers talks about growth, longing and feelings. “Garden Song” was written by Bridgers, Christian Lee Huston and Marshall Vore, with Bridgers, Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska producing the song.
“Garden Song” was the lead single for the “Punisher” album, and its slow and haunting sound has become somewhat of a signature sound for Bridgers. Talking about the album to infamous radio host Zane Lowe, Bridgers explained the meaning of “Garden Song”:
“…[it’s] about the reoccurring nightmares I have on tour…. About manifesting things the more you think about stuff”.
The music video was uploaded to Bridgers’ YouTube channel on the 26th February 2020, and was directed by Bridgers’ brother Jackson. The video shows Bridgers smoking marijuana in her room and hanging out with her friends dressed as furry creatures. As of late January 2021, the video has over 849 thousands of views with 22 thousand likes.
