“Falling Back” is the lead single from Canadian rapper Drake’s seventh and newest album, “Honestly, Nevermind”. Released through OVO and Republic Records on the 17th June, the album marks Drake’s journey into house music.
“Falling Back” is a house song that sees Drake discuss a relationship where he no longer feels as if the energy spent on him is mutual – he feels as if he is a second choice, or rather a “fall back”. The song seems to ebb and rise and focus on a feeling and the listener’s ability to dance to the song, rather than the lyrics themselves.
The music video was released via Drake’s YouTube channel on the 17th June 2022. Directed by Director X, the video shows Drake marrying 23 different women, with appearances from Canadian-American basketball player Tristan Thompson as Drake’s best man, his mother Sandi Graham, and a rabbi played by Ari Sitnik, a Toronto-based rabbi who acts and who also does computer programming. As of the 21st June 2022, the video had over 8 million views.
