“Taste” is the opening track on American singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter’s sixth album “Short n’ Sweet”, which was released on the 23rd August 2024 through Island Records.
“Taste” is disco-infused pop track that sees Carpenter tease her ex lover’s new lover, whom was previously with her partner before her. Carpenter emphasies that she will always be there, for when the new lover kisses her ex’s lips she states that: “You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you”.
The track is a witty tongue n’ cheek track that sees Carpenter play a possessive and jealous ex-lover, carrying on with the themes of ego, love, and sexuality seen throughout the “Short n’ Sweet” album.
The music video was released alongside the track on the 23rd August 2024, and was directed by Dave Meyers. The video featured actress Jenna Ortega.
