Landslide

Fleetwood Mac

Album Fleetwood Mac

“Landslide”  is the eighth track from Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 self-titled album. Released in July 1975, the album marked the first time Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks had appeared on a Fleetwood Mac album.

The beautiful folk rock song was written solely by Nicks, with inspiration stemming from a trip Nicks took to Aspen, Colorado. Nicks uses the snowy mountains and their potential threat of crashing down as a metaphor to describe what could happen to her love life and live thus far. Speaking to Q Magazine in 2004, Nicks revealed her feelings and intentions behind the track:

“I wrote it (“Landslide”) for Lindsey – for him, about him. It’s dear to both of us because it’s about us. We’re out there singing about our lives.”

As of the 3rd April 2023, the track has a total 530.8 million global streams on Spotify alone, along with the music video gathering 78 million views since its upload to YouTube in October 2009.

“Landslide” is certified Gold in the U.S. and Platinum in the U.K.
