“Wow.” is American rapper Post Malone’s (real name Austin Post) latest single. Released 24th December 2018, it became his sixth top 10 single. “Wow” follows a similar story line as one of Malone’s most popular tracks: “Congratulations”, which debatably was the track that led him to become so famous in mainstream media.
The track references “Congratulations” in the second verse: “Before I dropped Stoney none of y’all really cared (Cared) / Now they always say, “Congratulations”, to the kid (Kid)”. Malone mentions how no one really cared about him before releasing his debut album (Stoney) in 2016, but now when everyone sees him, they congratulate him. The song ultimately consists of Malone showcasing his riches and wealth in different ways via the type of alcohol or car he is driving, as well as how everyone knows of him: “yeah, your grandmama probably know me (Yeah, yeah)”.
The music video for “Wow.” was released on the 19th March 2019, directed by James DeFina. It features behind the scenes footage of primarily Post Malone behind the scenes in different countries at different shows, but also rapper and producer DJ Khaled, as well as iconic band the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. A older man who danced to the track and filmed the video to put online, also starred in the music video, dancing in front of Malone and his crew. The video has almost 25 million views since it’s upload.
