“VOID” is the second track from American singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez and her third studio album “PORTALS”, which was released on the 29th March 2023 through Atlantic Records.
The track sees Martinez dive into her deepest intrusive thoughts based on her personal experiences of hypnotherapy. Opening up about the track on TikTok, Martinez opened up about the song’s meaning:
““Void” has many layered meanings for me aside from it being generally about my anxiety, my tendency to overthink, and being overly critical of myself. It is also the second stage of the afterlife that I found was the most commonly described experience in hypnotherapy. It is about finding yourself in a dark place that feels like an endless abyss of self-criticism. The official audio video for the track premiered on the 29th March 2023 via Martinez’s official YouTube. On the 21st April 2023, the video had a total of 6.1 million views.
