“DEATH” is American singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez’s first single after a two year hiatus from music. It is the lead single from her third studio album “Portals”, which was released on the 31st March 2023 through Atlantic Records.
Martinez discusses death, rebirth and the afterlife on the track, singing about a spirit who has returned from the dead but is having a hard time reconnecting with the living. Martinez also emphasises how death is a part of life, and not something be feared but simply a fact of life that should be celebrated and not ignored.
The audio video for the track premiered on the 17th March 2023 via Martinez’s official YouTube channel. As of the 30th March, the audio video had over 5.1 million views.
