Under The Influence

Chris Brown

Album Indigo (Extended)

“Under The Influence” is the third song from the extended edition of Chris Brown’s ninth album: “Indigo”, which was released on the 4th October 2019 via RCA Records and CBE.

The R&B track was written by Brown alongside Davido, a Nigerian singer, as well as producer Kiddominant and Tiffany Mckie. Lyrically, the track details Brown being under the influence of Robitussin – a cough syrup that in large doses makes users feel drowsy and in a dream like state. Brown openly states he wants his lover to come over for the night, while explaining his sexual desires. A sped-up version of the track went viral on TikTok, leading the track to reach the mainstream charts in 2022, 3 years after its release.

The music video for the song was uploaded to Brown’s official YouTube channel on the 20th October 2022. As of the 15th December 2022, the video had a total of 50 million views.

“Under The Influence”  is certified Gold in: Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom. It is also certified Platinum in: Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, the US and Greece. The song is also certified 2x Platinum in Australia.
