“Mother” is a track on the deluxe edition from Meghan Trainor’s 2022 album “Takin’ It Back”, which was released via Epic Records.

“Mother” is a pop song that samples the 1954 track “Mr. Sandman” by Pat Ballard, and lyrically discusses misogyny and particularly being a woman in the music industry. Trainor spoke to Rolling Stone to explain the song further:

“This song is my response to being in the industry for almost a decade now and still finding myself in situations where I am talked down to or made to feel like my opinion isn’t valid. It’s for anyone who is in a situation where they feel like they are being mansplained to and want to take their power back.”

The music video for the track premiered via Meghan Trainor’s YouTube channel on the 10th March 2023 and featured an appearance from Kris Jenner. As of the 13th March 2023, the video had a total of 19.6 million views.
